Ukrainian Counteroffensive Imminent Amid Dnieper Crossing Reports

Extraordinary local elections were held in four municipalities in northern Kosovo with ethnic Serb majorities, but the dominant Kosovar Serb party boycotted the votes, resulting in a turnout of just 3.5% of eligible citizens. The Vetevendosje party of Prime Minister Albin Kurti won the mayoral races in North Mitrovica and Leposavic, while the opposition Democratic Party took races in Zvecan and Zubin Potok. The areas voting maintain close ties with Belgrade, which continues to oppose recognition of Kosovo's independence. The Serbian List party has demanded the formation of an Association of Serbian Municipalities and the withdrawal of special units of the Kosovo Police from north of the country.
