Turkish MP Dies After Heart Attack Following Controversial Israel Remark

Turkish lawmaker Hasan Bitmez, a member of the Islamist Saadet Party, has died after suffering a heart attack on the floor of parliament following a speech in which he stated that Israel would face "the wrath of God" for its actions in Gaza. Bitmez had criticized the Turkish government's policy regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict and accused the ruling Justice and Development Party of engaging in trade with Israel. He collapsed during his speech and was rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away. Bitmez's death comes days after the failed opposition alliance's attempt to topple Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the May presidential election.
