Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with top military commanders at the Southern Military HQ in Rostov-on-Don, according to the Kremlin. The meeting, details of which were not disclosed, took place at night and included briefings by Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov and other senior officers. The headquarters had previously been taken over by the Wagner mercenary outfit during a mutiny in June. Gerasimov, who was targeted by the mutiny, has made few public appearances since the incident.
