Populist Victory in Serbia Amid Fraud Claims

Serbia's ruling populist party, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), has emerged victorious in the parliamentary election with 47% of the vote, while the opposition alliance, Serbia Against Violence, secured 23%. However, the opposition claims fraud and irregularities in the local election in Belgrade, vowing not to recognize the results and demanding a rerun. Reports of irregularities include the alleged busing in of ethnic Serbs from neighboring Bosnia, issuance of identity documents for non-residents, assaults on election monitors, and allegations of voter coercion. The SNS party is expected to have an absolute majority in the parliament and form the next government.
