Peru-Mexico Tensions Escalate Over Political Differences.

Peru's President Dina Boluarte has called her Mexican counterpart, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, "very ignorant" as tensions between the two countries escalate over the ouster of Peru's former president, Pedro Castillo, last year. Lopez Obrador has repeatedly criticised Boluarte's government as illegitimate and argued that Castillo's removal was unconstitutional. He has also refused to hand over the rotating presidency of the Pacific Alliance trade bloc to Peru and said he does not want economic or trade ties with the country while Boluarte is in power. Diplomatic relations between the two Latin American nations were already strained, with Peru previously ordering Mexico's ambassador to leave the country and withdrawing its own ambassador from Mexico.
