Opposition MPs Suspended, Government Seizes Opportunity to Push Laws

At least 79 opposition lawmakers were suspended from the Indian parliament for disrupting proceedings and demanding a government statement and discussion on a recent security breach. This follows the suspension of 14 lawmakers last week, making a total of 93 suspensions, the highest in years. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has 290 lawmakers in the lower house.
