Lithuanian President Nausėda Secures Landslide Re-Election Victory

Lithuania's President Gitanas Nausėda has won re-election with 74.6% of the vote, amid heightened defence concerns over Russia. Nausėda, who will continue to steer the country's defence and foreign policy, emphasized the need to protect Lithuania's independence. His opponent, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, received 23.8% of the vote. Both candidates agree on boosting defence spending to counter Russia, but differ on relations with China.
