Kyrgyzstan's Flag Undergoes Transformation Amidst Controversy

Kyrgyzstan's parliament has voted to modify the design of the national flag after criticism that its central element resembles a sunflower, which in Kyrgyz culture symbolizes fickleness and servility. The flag, adopted in 1992, features a yellow sun with wavy rays on a red background. The proposed change aims to make the rays straight. President Sadyr Japarov supported the initiative, stating that the flag's resemblance to a sunflower has contributed to the country's struggles and inability to stand on its own.
