Kamal Haasan Defends Udhayanidhi Stalin Amid Sanatan Row

Kamal Haasan, the leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam, has come out in support of Tamil Nadu Youth Welfare Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, stating that he is being unfairly targeted for his remarks on Sanatana Dharma. Haasan emphasized that Udhayanidhi's comments are not new, as previous leaders of the Dravidian movement, including Udhayanidhi's grandfather M Karunanidhi, have also spoken about it. Haasan praised reformist leader Periyar E V Ramasamy for his dedication to social justice and stated that he himself understands the term 'Sanatana' thanks to Periyar. He also urged the entire state of Tamil Nadu to celebrate Periyar as their leader and speculated that the BJP may attempt to advance the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
