India rejected China's renaming of places in Arunachal Pradesh, which China claims as part of its territory. China and India have a long-standing border dispute, and recent clashes have strained relations between the two countries. China's Ministry of Civil Affairs issued a statement renaming 11 places, including five mountains, in what China calls its southern Tibet region. India rejected the renaming, stating that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India. China's foreign ministry spokesperson said the name changes were within the scope of China's sovereignty.
