Iceland's Social Democrats Triumph in Snap Election

In Iceland's snap election, the center-left Social Democratic Alliance, led by Kristrun Frostadottir, emerged as the largest party, unseating the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson's Independence Party. The Social Democrats secured 20.8% of the vote, gaining 15 seats in the 63-seat parliament, while the Independence Party received 19.4%, marking its worst result ever.
