G7 discusses China's role in global economy amidst debt standoff and supply chain concerns.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that a growing China that plays by international rules is good for the US and the world, as long as the economic competition between the two countries is fair and sustainable through cooperation. Yellen made the comments during an interview with Bloomberg TV in Niigata, Japan, where she was attending a meeting of financial leaders representing the Group of Seven. She also mentioned that she has not yet met with her newest Chinese counterpart, Vice Premier He Lifeng, but expects to travel there soon.
