France has banned the sale, possession, and transport of fireworks during the upcoming Bastille Day celebrations in an effort to prevent further riots and disturbances. The ban, issued after recent unrest sparked by the police killing of a teenager, does not apply to official firework displays organized by local authorities. Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne has also announced a "massive" security presence to ensure public safety during the national holiday. Over 3,700 people, including 1,160 minors, have been taken into police custody in connection with the recent protests.
