EU Implements Sanctions Against Kosovo for Unrest and Tensions with Serbia

The EU has announced "reversible and temporary measures" against Kosovo, citing its failure to restore calm in the Serb-majority north. The measures include the suspension of high-level visits, contacts, and events, as well as financial cooperation with Kosovo. The EU has asked Kosovo to suspend police operations in the vicinity of municipal buildings in the north and hold new elections in four Serb-majority municipalities. Protests have continued in the north since May 26, and the US has already canceled Kosovo's participation in a military exercise.
