China's Li Hui embarks on Europe peace mission to Ukraine and Russia.

China's special representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, is embarking on a tour of Europe that includes visits to Ukraine and Russia, with the aim of discussing a "political settlement" to the Ukraine crisis. Li is the most senior Chinese official to visit Ukraine since Russia's invasion in February 2022. The visit comes after Chinese President Xi Jinping held a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart, and China released a 12-point proposal for peace on the first anniversary of Russia's invasion. European leaders have urged China to play a more active role in restraining Moscow's actions.
