Bulgaria's Turbulent Political Landscape Leads to New Pro-EU Government.

Bulgaria has formed a new government led by two pro-Western, pro-reform parties, We Continue the Change (PP), and Democratic Bulgaria (DB), with the crucial backing of the center-right GERB party. However, the formation of this government was almost derailed by criticism and calumny from the president, head of institutions appointed by him, most of the parties in parliament, and the prosecutor's office, with the apparent aim of hijacking the new government's European path and derailing efforts to weed out Russian influence from the country's security services. Protests by largely far-right, pro-Russian parties and their supporters continue outside parliament.
