Border Tensions: China and India Seek Peace Amidst SCO Meet.

India's defence minister accused China of violating bilateral agreements and eroding the basis of ties between the two countries during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart. The reference was to a three-year-old standoff involving thousands of soldiers stationed along their disputed border in the eastern Ladakh region. Both sides have withdrawn troops from some areas, but continue to maintain extra troops as part of a multi-tier deployment. The Line of Actual Control separates Chinese and Indian-held territories from Ladakh in the west to India’s eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, which China claims in its entirety.
