Brazilian Campaigner and Former Congressman David Miranda Dies at 37.

David Miranda, a former Brazilian congressman and campaigner, has died at the age of 37 after a nine-month stay in intensive care. Miranda, who was also a columnist for Guardian US, was a powerful voice of resistance during the far-right administration of Jair Bolsonaro. He was the first gay man elected to Rio’s city council and played an important role in 2013’s Edward Snowden leaks. Miranda was remembered by Brazilian politicians, celebrities, and social activists for his vivacity, love, and passion for fighting for the people of the favela and the LGBT cause.
