Northwest Territories Battles Devastating Wildfires, Army Airlifts Hundreds to Safety

The Canadian Armed Forces have conducted the largest rescue operation in the history of the Northwest Territories, airlifting over 6,500 people to safety as wildfires continue to ravage the region. With 236 active wildfires, residents have been forced to evacuate multiple times, and some communities have been almost entirely destroyed. Canada is experiencing its worst wildfire season on record, with nearly 1,100 active fires across the country.
