Thousands of residents have been evacuated as an "out of control" wildfire rages on in Tenerife, Spain's Canary Islands. The fire, which broke out on Wednesday, has affected 11 towns and burned approximately 5,000 hectares of land. The blaze, fueled by hot and dry weather, is the largest ever seen in the Canary Islands. Despite the evacuation, popular tourist areas and airports remain unaffected. Climate change and drought have been cited as contributing factors to the severity of wildfires in Europe and around the world.
