Nine people are trapped on a hospital roof in the remote First Nations community of Wujal Wujal, Queensland, due to severe flooding caused by five days of torrential rain. Another seven people have sought shelter on a nearby roof, and four individuals are stranded on roofs in nearby Degarra. Emergency services are planning to send aircraft to evacuate those trapped. Cairns is also facing concerns about water supply due to blocked infrastructure caused by flood debris. Heavy rain is forecasted to continue, with major flood warnings in place for several rivers in the region.
