Deliberately Started Wildfire Forces Thousands to Evacuate Tenerife

Over 12,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in Tenerife as wildfires continue to ravage the Spanish Canary Island. The fires have affected 11 towns but spared tourist areas. Despite initial concerns of worsening weather conditions, firefighting operations have seen some improvement. The fire has spread across approximately 8,400 hectares, making it the largest deployment in Tenerife's history. This comes amidst a global surge in wildfires, with extreme heat also returning to Europe, including France.
