Multiple Strong Earthquakes Hit New Zealand's Kermadec Islands Region.

A 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit off the northeast coast of New Zealand, prompting authorities to investigate whether a tsunami warning should be issued. Residents near the coast were urged to evacuate immediately, but after careful monitoring, authorities did not issue a tsunami warning. The epicentre appeared to be located around the Kermadec Islands, and a powerful 5.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded about half an hour after the initial strike. New Zealand's most recent powerful earthquake was also recorded around the Kermadec Islands in March 2022.
