Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Admiral Aleksandr Moiseev as the new commander of the Russian navy in response to Ukraine's successful attacks on the Black Sea fleet in occupied Crimea. The attacks have destroyed a quarter of the fleet's ships and forced many to relocate to the mainland. Moiseev, a former commander of the Crimean Black Sea fleet, faces the challenging task of countering Ukrainian assaults.
