Thousands of Migrants Fleeing Mexico's Southern Border in Search of Faster Visa Process

Around 5,000 migrants from Central America, Venezuela, Cuba, and Haiti have embarked on a journey on foot from Mexico's southern border, heading north towards the United States. Frustrated with long waits for refugee or exit visas at Mexico's overwhelmed migrant processing center in Tapachula, the migrants formed a line along the highway, demanding transit visas that would allow them to cross Mexico and reach the U.S. border. The march, one of the largest since June 2022, aims to draw attention to their plight and the dire living conditions they face in Tapachula.
