Container Ship Collision Causes Traffic Diversion in Suez Canal

A container ship, One Orpheus, collided with a floating bridge in the eastern lane of the Suez Canal, but the incident will not interrupt the passage of ships through the waterway, according to the Suez Canal Authority (SCA). Tugboats are working to tow the vessel, which suffered a rudder fault while transiting from Singapore to the Netherlands. Ships coming from the south are being diverted along the original branch of the canal. The Suez Canal, a vital shipping lane for Egypt, is currently undergoing expansion works after a previous incident in 2021 when a container ship blocked traffic for six days.
