Deadly Attack on Chinese Miners in Central African Republic.

Gunmen attacked a Chinese-operated gold mining site in the Central African Republic, killing nine Chinese nationals and wounding two others. The Chinese government condemned the attack and called for the perpetrators to be punished. Rebel coalition CPC was initially blamed for the attack, but later accused Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group. The attack came just days after the kidnapping of three Chinese nationals in the country's west. Central African Republic remains one of the poorest countries in the world despite its vast mineral wealth, and rebel groups have operated with impunity across the country over the past decade.
