UNRWA Funding Cuts and Allegations: Impact on Israel-Hamas Conflict

Several countries, including the United States, Britain, Germany, Australia, and others, have suspended funding to the U.N. agency for Palestinians, UNRWA, following allegations of employee involvement in a Hamas attack. The move puts over 2 million people at risk, as UNRWA provides essential aid to Palestinians. The agency has launched an independent investigation, and U.N. Secretary General António Guterres stated that 12 employees were implicated, with nine terminated and one confirmed dead. The funding suspension could lead to a humanitarian crisis, as UNRWA may run out of money to meet the needs of Palestinians displaced by the war as soon as February.
