UN Condemns Taliban's Public Flogging of 63 People

The United Nations has condemned the Taliban's public flogging of 63 people, including 14 women, in Afghanistan's Sari Pul province. The punishments, which included accusations of crimes such as sodomy, theft, and immoral relations, were carried out in a sports stadium. Despite initial promises of moderation, the Taliban have resumed severe public punishments similar to those during their previous rule in the late 1990s.
