340 members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police and soldiers have fled into Bangladesh during fighting with the Arakan Army, an ethnic minority army. Bangladesh's foreign minister stated that discussions are ongoing with Myanmar's government about the issue and that Bangladesh is willing to take them back. India has also announced the end of visa-free movement between India and Myanmar to ensure internal security. The Arakan Army seeks autonomy from Myanmar’s central government and is part of an alliance of ethnic minority armies that launched an offensive in October, gaining strategic territory in Myanmar’s northeast bordering China.
