UN Mission Arrives in Nagorno-Karabakh, Marking the End of Ethnic Armenian Exodus

A United Nations mission has arrived in Nagorno-Karabakh, marking the global body's first access to the region in about 30 years. The mission, led by a senior U.N. aid official, comes as the mass exodus of ethnic Armenians from the region is nearing its end following a recent Azerbaijani military offensive. Armenia has requested the World Court to order Azerbaijan to withdraw its troops from civilian establishments in Nagorno-Karabakh and grant the United Nations access. The World Health Organization has reported that over 100,000 ethnic Armenians have made the journey to Armenia in less than a week, and the organization is sending experts to provide assistance.
