Investigation into Damaged Pipeline Points to Chinese Ship, Finland Says

Finnish police are investigating a Chinese cargo ship, the Newnew Polar Bear, in connection with the suspected sabotage of a pipeline between Finland and Estonia. The ship's movements coincided with the time and place of the pipeline damage, which was caused by an external mechanical force. Finnish authorities will cooperate with Chinese authorities to establish the ship's role. Samples from the crime scene are being analyzed, and it will take at least five months to repair the pipeline, leaving Finland reliant on liquefied natural gas imports for the winter.
