German and Indian companies team up for submarine construction in India.

Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in a joint project to build submarines for and in India. TKMS will provide engineering and design of the submarines as well as consultancy support, while MDL will be responsible for constructing and delivering the submarines. The construction work will take place in India and is expected to include significant local content.
