Child's Online Purchase: AK-47 Delivered to Doorstep

An 8-year-old boy in the Netherlands managed to purchase an AK-47 off the dark web without his mother's knowledge, using code phrases and online games to mask his activities. The purchases started with small items and escalated to the gun, which was shipped from Poland to Bulgaria to avoid customs. The concerned parent discovered the situation when the gun arrived at their doorstep and has since turned it over to the police. The boy's involvement with international hackers led his mother to seek help from law enforcement and his school, but her concerns were dismissed. She took matters into her own hands, educated herself about cybersecurity, and helped her son break off contact with the hackers. Now, she works as a Cyber Special Volunteer with the Dutch Police to raise awareness about the ease with which young people can engage in hacking activities.
