Controversy as Russia's iconic artwork transferred from museum to church.

Russia's most famous icon, the Trinity icon by Andrei Rublev, was transferred from Moscow's Tretyakov Gallery to Christ the Savior Cathedral on President Vladimir Putin's personal order, despite protests from the museum keepers who warned that the icon was too fragile to move. Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill led a liturgy in the cathedral on Sunday, attended by hundreds of believers, including some officials. Putin's order to transfer the icon to the cathedral is seen as a reflection of his desire to strengthen ties with the church, which has strongly supported the Russian military campaign in Ukraine.
