Venezuela's Tocoron Prison: From Gang-Run Chaos to State Control

Venezuela's Interior Minister announced that the government has regained control of its prison system after seizing the Tocoron jail, which was notorious for being run by prisoners. The jail, known for its luxurious amenities, was the headquarters of the criminal gang Tren de Aragua, responsible for various crimes including assassinations and drug trafficking. Most of the 1,600 inmates have been relocated to other prisons, and 88 members of the gang who escaped during the raid have been recaptured. The operation to dismantle the gang is ongoing.
