Venezuela Launches Massive Operation to Reclaim Prison from Gangs

Venezuela has deployed 11,000 troops to regain control of Tocoron prison, which had been taken over by the powerful Tren de Aragua criminal gang. The gang members had enjoyed freedom within the prison, which boasted luxurious amenities such as a pool, nightclub, and mini zoo. The 6,000 inmates will be transferred to other prisons, leaving many relatives uncertain about their loved ones' whereabouts. The Venezuelan Interior Ministry praised the security forces for dismantling the gang's stronghold.
