An American man confessed to charges of murder and rape after pushing two U.S. women down a ravine near Germany's Neuschwanstein castle last year, fatally injuring one of them. The defendant faces a maximum sentence of life in prison for murder in Germany and is also charged with possession of child pornography. The attack occurred when the man allegedly lured the women off a hiking path, leading to a scuffle that resulted in one woman being pushed down a slope and fatally injured, while the other was strangled and raped before being pushed down as well. A verdict is expected in mid-March.
