Socialite Jasmine Hartin fined, avoids jail time for fatal shooting of Belize police chief.

Canadian socialite Jasmine Hartin has been spared prison time after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of Belize police chief Henry Jemmott in May 2021. She was handed a £30,000 fine and 300 hours of community service, and must also produce a video warning against the dangers of drunkenness and mishandling firearms. Hartin and Jemmott were known to be friends and had been at a party together before his death. Hartin claimed she accidentally shot him with his own gun after fumbling with it while drunk.
