Police dog uncovers cocaine in banana shipment with expert nose.

Italian police seized over 2,700 kilos of cocaine hidden in a shipment of bananas from Ecuador with the help of a police dog named Joel. The cocaine, estimated to be worth over $900 million, was of the finest quality and destined for Armenia. The Gioia Tauro port, a stronghold of the ‘ndrangheta organized crime clan, has been under the watch of anti-Mafia investigators due to its proximity to towns where the clan has bases. This seizure brings the total amount of cocaine intercepted and seized by customs police at the port to 37 tons since the start of 2021.
