Police dog uncovers cocaine in banana shipment.

Italian police seized over 2,700 kilos of cocaine hidden in a shipment of bananas from Ecuador, estimated to be worth over $900 million in street sales. The drug was discovered with the help of a police dog named Joel, who eagerly pawed at the boxes to uncover the hidden packets. The Gioia Tauro port, a stronghold of the ‘ndrangheta organized crime clan, has been under the watch of anti-Mafia investigators due to its proximity to their bases. This seizure brings the total amount of cocaine intercepted and seized at the port to 37 tons since the start of 2021.
