International Calls for Eid Ceasefire in Sudan Amid Ongoing Fighting

Several countries, including the US, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt, have called for a three-day ceasefire in Sudan during the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday, as violence between the army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continues. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also appealed for a ceasefire to allow civilians to reach safe areas. More than 330 people have been killed in the power struggle between two previously allied leaders of Sudan’s ruling military government. Thousands of civilians have fled the capital Khartoum, and the US is sending more troops to the region.
