Russian Airline Sues Canada over Sanctions

Volga-Dnepr Airlines has filed a lawsuit against the Canadian government, seeking to invalidate Canada's sanctions and regain possession of its Antonov An-124 cargo plane, which has been stranded in Toronto since February 2022 due to Canada's airspace closure to Russian planes. The airline argues that it was wrongly included in the sanctions list and had no involvement in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The lawsuit will determine the fate of the rare aircraft, as Western bans on Russian planes have severely limited the use of the Antonov An-124.
