Heatwave Sweeps Across the U.S., Breaking Records and Bringing Extreme Temperatures

Excessive heat warnings and advisories have been issued for over a dozen states in the West and South, with more than 90 million Americans under heat alerts. Record-shattering, triple-digit temperatures are expected in cities across Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada, with the possibility of hitting 130 degrees in Death Valley. The heatwave has already broken over 1,000 high temperature records since June. Meanwhile, the Northeast is experiencing heavy rain and thunderstorms, with New York City and parts of New England at risk of flash flooding.
