California Governor Vetoes "Magic Mushroom" and Caste Discrimination Bills

California Governor Gavin Newsom has vetoed two bills, one that would have decriminalized the possession and personal use of hallucinogens like psychedelic mushrooms, and another that aimed to outlaw caste-based discrimination. Newsom stated that more work needs to be done before decriminalizing hallucinogens, including setting up regulated treatment guidelines.
