The CEO of Brightline expressed interest in connecting Tampa to the rest of the system, making 75% of the state accessible by their trains. Tampa Bay area leaders are working with Brightline to find a solution for a train running from Orlando to downtown Tampa. The proposed route would also pass through Polk County, where local leaders have shown interest in collaborating with Brightline. Proponents argue that the high-speed train would alleviate traffic congestion and provide an alternative transportation option.
