Deadly Stampede at Yemen Charity Event Leaves Dozens Dead and Injured

At least 78 people were killed and dozens injured in a crowd surge during a Ramadan charity event in Yemen's capital, Sanaa. Needy residents had gathered to receive charity handouts from local merchants. The incident occurred just days before the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. The Houthi-run General Authority for Zakat has announced it will give one million Yemeni Riyal (about $4,000) to each family of the victims and take care of the treatment of those injured.
