WhatsApp is introducing a new voice chat feature for large groups, similar to Discord, allowing users to have voice conversations without disrupting the entire group. The feature starts chats quietly and can be joined by tapping an in-chat bubble. Users can continue messaging those who are unable to join the voice chat and easily control the call without leaving the chat. The rollout will begin with groups of 33 people or more and will be globally available in the coming weeks. WhatsApp ensures end-to-end encryption for voice chats.
