Panos Panay, Former Microsoft Surface Chief, Joins Amazon

Panos Panay, former Windows and Surface chief at Microsoft, is reportedly joining Amazon to oversee the company's hardware products, including Alexa and Echo speakers. Panay, who played a key role in the success of Microsoft's Surface devices, will be taking over from Dave Limp, Amazon's outgoing hardware boss. His departure from Microsoft comes just before the company's event on Thursday, where he was originally scheduled to present. Amazon has been expanding its hardware offerings in recent years, including robots and home surveillance drones, and is in the process of acquiring iRobot for $1.7 billion.
