Microsoft offers temporary workaround for Outlook freezes after Windows updates

Microsoft says Outlook can freeze after this month’s Windows security updates (KB5074109/KB5073724) for users with POP accounts on Windows 11 25H2/24H2 and Windows 10/Servers. Symptoms include the Outlook window becoming unresponsive, needing Task Manager or a restart to reopen, re-downloading emails, and Sent Items not showing. If PSTs are stored in OneDrive, similar issues can occur; Microsoft notes broader impacts across Windows 10 and Windows Server versions. Workarounds include using webmail, moving PST files out of OneDrive, or uninstalling the affected updates (KB5074109 or KB5073724), though removing updates can expose devices to security risks. Microsoft is investigating with no ETA for a fix.
